Description
The content of the course presents the framework for the possibility of
using water as a therapeutic medium. The course presents a movement in water and
swimming as a content of human treatment, with (i) the goal of maintaining and
improving the physical and functional abilities of an individual, (ii)
performing individual movement tasks and therapeutic exercises with the goal of
influencing on the improvement of the functioning of the whole movement system /
individual topological and functional structures. The course covers theoretical
and practical contents in order to demonstrate the exploitation of water
characteristics and the legality and specific peculiarities of water and
movement in the water on the human organism. The presented training programs and
individual exercises will focus primarily on treating water with the aim of
influencing the musculoskeletal system (water in the context of relief),
cardio-vascular-respiratory system (water as a medium that allows the exercise
of people with overweight) and neurological system (movement of neuromuscular
patients in the water and basics of neurological techniques in water). 1. The
characteristics and physical properties of water as a therapeutic medium
(buoyancy, density, temperature …) 2. The laws of human action in water
(hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, buoyancy, resistance …) 3. Benefits of moving
and exercising in the water (possibility of different situations, autonomy,
relief of joints, exploitation of a lift for a feeling of weight loss ..)
4. Physiological effects of swimming, hydrotherapy and therapeutic recreation
(thermoregulation, cardiovascular, respiratory, kidney, muscular and skeletal
effects, psychological and social impact) 5. Restrictions on exercise in the
water (fever, heart problems, incontinence, and infection, epilepsy) 6. General
instructions for training in water (heating, entry into the water, precautions,
hygiene requirements, equipment, cooling …) 7. Exercising for different groups
(Persons with injuries of the locomotor apparatus, people with overweight,
osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and muscle pain, people with diabetes and people
with high blood pressure) 8. Forms of movement and organization of exercise in
water • Swimming – various basic and “useful” swimming techniques • Training in
water for developing physical and functional abilities and exercise and
exercises in water for various topological areas (arm, shoulder, neck, hull,
hip, knee, ankle) • Modes of water training approaches (individual, group,
exercise in pairs …) 9. Training tools and equipment in the water
10. Providing assistance and basics of rescuing from water
