Nursing research covers a number of key areas that are critical to advancing and improving the quality of healthcare. In the area of social aspects of health and disease, we focus on analysing the complex influences of cultural, social and economic factors on individual and group health. Particular attention is paid to the study of migrants, especially from the perspective of sexual and reproductive health and, in this context, the development of transcultural nursing. Our research is further expanding into the area of professionalisation of nursing, with an emphasis on the development of nurses’ competences in pharmaceutical care. A large part of our activities is also focused on exploring innovative and flexible forms of teaching and learning using digital technology and simulation in healthcare. Monitoring the use of smart devices among senior citizens and the frequency of their victimisation in the context of cybercrime are also part of our research activities.
The main areas of research
In recent years, our research and projects have been primarily focused on:
- Developing nursing competences in pharmaceutical care: monitoring side effects and therapeutic effects of medication, prescribing medication , and providing patient education and information on medication.
- Monitoring the sexual and reproductive health of migrant women, especially those at risk of female genital mutilation and forced marriage.
- Establish more effective nursing education to develop transcultural skills.
- Developing nursing competences in the area of spiritual care.
- Developing a digital education standard in higher education to ensure equity and accessibility in digital education.
- Using simulations as a pedagogical approach to develop technical and non-technical skills in health care students.
- Research on the quality of life of different population groups
- Monitoring the use of smart devices and cybercrime among senior citizens.
