Description

The student understands:

– Epidemiology of the upper body injuries,

– Neuromuscular control of the upper body movement (intermuscular coordination of functional movements, development of movement patterns and movement learning),
– Most common upper body problems (Whiplash injury and cervical sprain, functional scoliosis, different types of glenohumeral and scapular instability, impingement syndromes, Bankart lesion, SLAP lesion, stress injuries of the rotator cuff, biceps brachii injuries, injuries of the elbow and wrist),

– Advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of the upper body (palpation, testing of muscle strength and mobility, specific functional tests, advanced methods of assessing posture and their use in practice),

– Advanced physiotherapeutic treatment of the upper body (therapeutic methods for a targeted development of upper body strength and power, local and global stabilization, methods of targeted stretching of upper body structures, integration of various physiotherapeutic methods and approaches, preventive and curative measures to prevent and treat upper body injuries),

– External and internal risk factors for upper body injuries.
