A brief description of the area
Rehabilitation of injuries and health conditions is amongst the main domains of physiotherapy. The aim of the rehabilitation process is to achieve successful recovery and regain a high quality of life following injury or in the presence of a disease. Research is focused on the effectiveness of different approaches and interventions for rehabilitation of neurologic, musculoskeletal and internistic conditions.
A brief description of major research
Part of our past research focused on treatment of anterior knee pain. The main aim was to evaluate motor abilities changes in individuals with anterior knee pain and to evaluate the effects of exercise interventions on the aforementioned changes. Findings from quantitative research were complemented with a qualitative study on the patients’ experience following the exercise intervention.
Members of the Department of physiotherapy contributed to scientific monographies on low back pain and healthy aging. We also published multiple research on ergonomics and on the use of robotic-assisted gait training devices.
