Description
• Raising awareness about the main differences between general English and
English for Specific/Academic Purposes; • acquisition of terminology in the
field of kinesiology; acquisition and translation of specific terms, word
formation, collocations, phraseological units; • development of reading
comprehension skills using authentic texts (journal articles, textbook excerpts,
abstracts) from the field of kinesiology; • linguistic and structural analysis
of specific texts, exercises for the consolidation of lexicogrammatical and
functional structures; • development of listening comprehension skills (academic
lectures, documentaries) and note-taking skills; • development of conversational
strategies (language of tact and diplomacy), taking part in discussions and
debates on various topics from the field of kinesiology; • preparation for
delivering effective presentations at international professional and scientific
conferences; • writing academic texts (essays, reports, summaries), citing,
summarizing, paraphrasing; • writing formal texts: CVs, cover letters;
• interpreting graphs and tables; • Independent use of dictionaries, language
textbooks and professional publications, information technology and Web sources.
