We invite you to a lecture by guest lecturer Assist. Prof. Benjamin Pageaux from the University of Montreal – Université de Montréal, which will take place in the framework of the GOST UP project.

Topic: Effort, pain, fatigue… what is the role of the brain?

The lecture will take place in two sessions:

  • Wednesday, 10 May 2023, 13.00 – 15.30, OMEGA (Livade) and
  • Thursday, 11 May 2023, 11.30 – 14.00, OMEGA (Livade).

SHORT SUMMARY

Words that echo in the heads of many athletes, coaches and clinicians aiming for optimal performance or rehabilitation. But what are these perceptions? How do they reflect neurophysiological mechanisms important for optimal performance or rehabilitation? How do these perceptions interact with each other to influence human behavior and the regulation of our movements?

By integrating knowledge from physiology, neuroscience and psychology, this series of lectures will present the state of the art on these perceptions. It will attempt to provide answers to these questions, and to identify perspectives for optimizing performance and health.

BIOGRAPHY

Since 2018 he is an assistant professor at the School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences (EKSAP) at the University of Montreal. He is also a researcher at the Research Center of the Institute of Geriatrics of Montreal (CRIUGM).

Benjamin’s research aims to better understand the neurophysiological mechanisms influencing the perception of effort, with the goal of improving health and performance. He is particularly interested in the interaction between exercise, pain and fatigue. He uses a multidisciplinary approach integrating knowledge from physiology, psychology and neuroscience.
