Description
The course is designed to provide Erasmus nursing students with practical
skills in the context of clinical training.
It focuses on the following key
topics:
Students are introduced to basic clinical procedures and protocols in
surgery and/or internal medicine. They participate in diagnostic and therapeutic
procedures and interventions, monitoring the patient’s condition in the
pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative periods. Emphasis is placed on
the performance of interventions such as the measurement of vital signs, the
preparation and administration of i.v. drugs, wound care, the setting up of
peripheral venous channels, etc. In addition to the technical skills mentioned
above, they learn how to actively participate and collaborate in a
multidisciplinary and multicultural team. They acquire competences such as
flexibility and resourcefulness by working in a healthcare system that is
different from that of their home country.
