NURSING CARE WITHIN THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM

1. OBSERVATION, MEASUREMENTS, PARTICIPATION IN THE CLINICAL EXAMINATION OF THE PATIENT AND ASSESSMENT OF THE HEALTH CONDITION:
• Anthropometric measurements
• Examination techniques: inspection, palpation, auscultation, percussion
• Assistance in clinical examination
• Functional tests (ECG, EEG, spirometry)
2. PATIENT PREPARATION FOR EXAMINATIONS:
• radiological examinations,
• ultrasonic,
• endoscopic examinations,

• CT examinations,
• investigations with radioisotopes,
• punctures (abdominal, pleural, lumbar, bone marrow) and biopsies.
3. COLLECTION AND TRANSPORT OF BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL (blood, urine, feces, sputum / respiratory aspirate, swabs):
• General legalities of the collection of biological materials and factors affecting the quality of the collection,
• Preparing the patient for the collection of biological material and the most common nursing problems,
• Tools, collection, storage and transport of biological materials (blood, urine, stool, sputum, cerebrospinal fluid, swabs, punctates) and documentation
4. ORDERING, STORAGE, PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF MEDICINES:
• drugs and methods of drug application, principles of safe drug application, feeding and handling of drugs, adverse events related to drug handling and application;
• drug effects, side effects, anaphylactic reaction and measures;
• hypodermoclysis.
5. TREATMENT OF WOUNDS:
• wounds and the division of wounds and their characteristics;
• characteristics of wound healing, factors affecting healing and periods of wound healing;
• wound drainage;
• treatment and cleaning of wounds, TIME concept, division of wounds according to treatment;
• modern coatings and their characteristics

LABORATORY MEDICINE

1. INTRODUCTORY PART:
• presentation of the field,
• familiarization with legislation and the code of ethics in the field of laboratory medicine,
• the organization of laboratory medicine at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of health care,
• familiarization with the quality control system in laboratory medicine.
2. CHARACTERISTICS OF BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL: blood (blood cells, serum, plasma), urine, feces and other material.
3. DEFINITION OF TERMS: biological sample, its physiological and pathophysiological components.
4. BIOLOGICAL VARIABILITY: between individuals and external influences on the results of laboratory tests.
5. MATERIALS AND PROCEDURES: for the correct collection, preparation, transport and storage of biological samples and the impact on the results of laboratory tests – the consequences of improper collection.
6. LABORATORY INVESTIGATION: pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phase.
7. The importance and procedure of setting ORIENTATION REFERENCE VALUES for children, adults, and the elderly and their use.
8. MEASURING SYSTEMS AND MEASURING UNITS, which are most often used in laboratory medicine.
