Description
This course enables students to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies required for effective management of crisis situations in nursing practice. The programme is based on simulation-based learning and includes high-fidelity simulation, standardized patients and teamwork in simulated crisis situations.
• Introduction to Crisis Management in Nursing (definition of crisis situations, patient safety, the role of nurses in acute and unpredictable situations)
• Systematic Assessment of the Acutely Ill Patient Using the ABCDE Approach
(recognition of life-threatening conditions, prioritization of care, clinical decision-making)
• Crisis Communication in Nursing Practice
(communication with patients, relatives and healthcare professionals, communication in stressful situations, structured communication models)
• Crisis Resource Management (CRM)
(principles of effective teamwork, situational awareness, leadership, task allocation, decision-making and error prevention)
• De-escalation Techniques for Managing Agitated and Aggressive Patients
(recognition of high-risk behaviour, verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques, ensuring safety)
• Triage and Patient Management During Disasters and Mass Casualty Incidents
(fundamental principles of triage, prioritization, organization of care and resource allocation)
• Simulation-Based Training for Crisis Management
(high-fidelity simulation, standardized patients and simulated acute and crisis scenarios)
