For several years now, the first Sunday in May (5 May) has been marked by the\u00a0<\/span>Wings for life<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>run<\/a>, which takes place in three ways – at a larger event, where runners are chased by a pursuit vehicle (this will be in Ljubljana) or\u00a0<\/span>with an app<\/strong>. This can be used by anyone who is going to run on Sunday at 13:00, or you can join one of the\u00a0<\/span>“app runs” organised by the app<\/strong>, where you are chased by a virtual car. This year, for the\u00a0<\/span>second time, this type of run<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>will\u00a0<\/span>take place by the sea, organised by Sport UP<\/a>, which is responsible for the recreation of students and staff at the University of Primorska<\/strong>. We will run\u00a0<\/span>from the building of the UP FT\u0160 Turistica to the last pier of the Portoro\u017e beach<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(short run, turning point after 2 km),\u00a0<\/span>to Se\u010de<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(medium run, 4.4 km one way) or to the Se\u010dovlje Salt Pans (8 km). This year our event is also supported by\u00a0<\/span>Radio Capris<\/strong>.<\/p>\n With the run, we want to first of all\u00a0<\/span>encourage\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>students and staff\u00a0<\/span>to enjoy additional recreation and pleasant socialising<\/strong>, and above all to help the charity project, as\u00a0<\/span>we are aware of the importance of supporting good research projects<\/strong>. We would like to invite\u00a0<\/span>local and regional runners<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>who have not chosen to run in the capital but would prefer to run in the company of others to join us. And we will all follow the slogan of the run –\u00a0<\/span>I run for those who can’t<\/strong>.<\/p>\n We will be especially inspired by the\u00a0<\/span>SportUP Wings for life World Run 2023 – App Campus Run UP ambassador, namely our alumnus Aljo\u0161a Habjan, a graduate of Applied Kinesiology at UP FVZ<\/strong>. Aljo\u0161a was severely injured\u00a0<\/span>during his studies\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>and\u00a0<\/span>became a tetraplegic<\/strong>. Nevertheless, he persevered and passed all the missing courses and subjects and\u00a0<\/span>successfully\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>defended his final thesis<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>entitled “Physical\/sport activity of tetraplegics”<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>in December 2022, under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matej Plevnik.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>His story about the accident that did not stop him will surely be a motivation for all of us.<\/p>\n You can\u00a0<\/span>register for the run via the run app<\/strong><\/a>, where you can also make a donation of\u00a0<\/span>18,00 euros.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>There are no other costs for joining the organised run, and the\u00a0<\/span>UP Faculty of Education will also provide animation and childcare for the runners’ children<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(from the age of 5, with prior registration\u00a0<\/span>HERE<\/strong><\/a>). After the run, all runners will be offered a drink and a snack on the terrace of the UP Turistica, where they can mingle and share impressions.<\/p>\n Not a runner, but interested in helping?
