Physiotherapy<\/em><\/strong> is a science which deals with the development, maintenance and recovery of optimal movement and functional abilities in individuals at all stages of life.<\/p>\n

The<\/strong>1st<\/sup>-cycle university study programme of Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Health <\/strong>Sciences of the University of Primorska has been prepared following the WCPT (World Confederation for Physical Therapy) educational guidelines<\/strong>. Its carefully designed structure provides students with the knowledge and skills from the three core thematic pillars, namely the musculoskeletal, internal \/ cardio-respiratory and neurological.<\/p>\n

A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional working at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of healthcare and wellness. Practising this profession requires a university or higher education degree, awarded upon completion of an education and training programme lasting at least three years. The graduate must complete an internship and pass a professional examination for healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n

The study programme in Physiotherapy is based on population trends of the western world and new trends in the physiotherapy profession.<\/p>\n

Admission Requirements for study year<\/h2>\n

Admission to the first year of the study programme shall be granted to applicants who have:
a) passed the general matura examination;
b) passed the vocational matura examination in any of the secondary school programmes and a final examination in the general matura subject: Biology or Physics. Insofar as the aforementioned subject has already been taken within the framework of the vocational matura examination, applicants must pass any other general matura subject; the selected subject cannot be the same as the subject passed in the framework of the vocational matura;
c) successfully completed any four-year secondary-school programme before 1 June 1995.<\/p>\n

If enrolment is to be restricted, the candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n

the candidates under a) are selected according to:
– overall performance in the general matura: 70 % of points awarded,
– overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 30 % of points awarded;
the candidates under b) above are selected according to:
– overall performance in the vocational matura: 40 % of points awarded,
– overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 30 % of points awarded,
– the performance in the selected general matura subject: 30 % of points awarded;
the candidates under c) are selected according to:
– overall performance in the final exam respectively: 70 % of points awarded,
– overall performance in secondary grades 3 and 4: 30 % of points awarded.<\/p>\n

All candidates registered are required to submit a medical certificate of medical fitness to perform work in the field of sports and health, issued by the Dispensary for Occupational, Traffic and Sports Medicine (referral for preliminary medical examination, DZS form 8,204). Due to specific conditions and limitations of the practical exercises, the student’s physical and mental condition is required to be appropriate.<\/p>\n
